Telecommunications is a competitive industry. Technology evolves constantly and consumers are always looking for faster and safer service. Hawaii Dialogix Telecom, better known as HDT, got the jump on its competition when the company inked a deal with Kamehameha Schools to build and operate a free public WiFi network covering nine blocks in the Our Kaka‘ako neighborhood. Almost two years later, the HDT Air public Wi-Fi network is still one of the fastest and most powerful of its kind in the nation.
HDT has launched several new products since then. In 2015, HDT was Hawai‘i’s first residential Internet service provider to offer service at 1gbps. The company also completed installation of its fiber-based HiPERFIBER service at The Shidler Group’s three main properties: the Davies Pacific Center, the Pan Am Building and Waterfront Plaza. The tenants now receive complimentary symmetrical HiPERFIBER service at 10mbps.
This past February, HDT launched three new security products with HDT Defense, designed to protect its customers from malicious cyber attacks. HDT also added Restaurant Row at Waterfront Plaza to its HDT Air public Wi-Fi network with free service at 100mbps. Later this year, HDT is expanding the HDT Air public Wi-Fi network to include Makers and Tasters at Kewalo Basin.
