2005 when publisher Naomi Hazelton-Giambrone first conceived the idea for Pacific Edge—a publication that would not only provide engaging content but also build community and create connections to perpetuate professional success among its readers. Within a year of meeting husband and co-publisher Jamie Giambrone in April 2005, Pacific Edge magazine came into fruition. The duo launched the first issue in 2006, promoting the magazine through guerrilla marketing and partnerships that have come to form the backbone of the community that’s blossomed around Pacific Edge over the past decade.
The magazine features a cross-section of Hawai‘i’s dynamic business community—the up-and-comer and the industry veteran, the millennial and the baby boomer—to provide new perspectives and expert insight in a variety of industries as well as offer readers a wealth of resources and potential business connections. From business profiles to columns that share industry best practices and tips for professional development, Pacific Edge aims to inspire and inform the reader while providing contact information and other resources to facilitate business between the magazine’s readers, features and advertisers. Part of Pacific Edge’s innovative approach is that it grounds its business and lifestyle content in practical applications and real-life connections, bringing the magazine to life through quarterly networking events that coincide with the release of each new issue through quarterly networking events that coincide with the release of each new issue.
Since the magazine’s first launch at the Hano Hano room at Sheraton Waikiki in 2006, networking events have become an integral part of Pacific Edge’s platform for fostering new connections among members of the local business community. Quarterly networking events work hand in hand to spotlight the magazine’s featured professionals, entrepreneurs and business leaders, along with creating new opportunities by bringing together members of the business community at large.
In keeping with the magazine’s mission to perpetuate business leadership, Pacific Edge launched its inaugural Business Achievement Awards Gala in May 2011 to celebrate the accomplishments of up-and-coming entrepreneurs and established professionals who have made an impact through their business savvy and community involvement.
As Pacific Edge looks back on 10 years of featuring entrepreneurs and professionals in Hawai‘i, it also looks forward to finding new ways to support local business and develop Hawai‘i’s human capital. In its ongoing evolution to greet the changing business landscape, Pacific Edge will continue to build a community that supports the professionals of today and inspires the leaders of tomorrow.
